Mrs. Victoria T. Eskra, 89, a life long native of Duryea, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Guardian Healthcare at Taylor, Taylor.

Born in Duryea, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Sophie Fedorczyk Mergel and was a graduate of Duryea High School, Class of 1950. After graduating from high school, she worked for Mr. and Mrs. Kunigel. When Topps Chewing Gum Company opened in Duryea, she was among the first employees hired and worked there until the factory closed.

Vicki was a life long parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea. She attended and worked at many church functions, making items for bake sales, helping with making and serving food for the yearly church festivals. She and her husband made and donated many handmade crafts, ceramics and wooden decorations for the yearly church festivals.

She and her husband, Albert R. Eskra, were married for 64 when he passed away on December 16, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Emil Mergel and sister, Cecelia Mergel.

Daughter, Ann Marie O'Hop and her husband, George J. of Sterling, VA
Granddaughter, Nichole Marie O'Hop of Northern, VA
Granddaughter, Brittnay Ann O'Hop of Northern, VA

Brother, Joseph Mergel and his wife, Blair, of Quincy, MA
Nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 9:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea with the Rev. Michael Bryant officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea. A viewing will be held on Monday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. If you are attending the viewing and funeral mass, we ask that you please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Growing up with you and the many visits to our home in Springbrook. Your dad hunted with my dad and our son Earl and Husband Earl. Great time.
