Mr. Stanley J. Piontek, 79, of Pittston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Highland Manor, Exeter.
Born in Nanticoke, he was the son of the late Stanley A. and Mary Michalek Piontek and was graduate of Pittston High School. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Ownes Illinois, which later became Techneglas. He also worked side by side with his brother at the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc. for many years.
He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea.
Since 1980, Stanley was a member of the Pittston City Fire Department (Niagara Hose Company #2) where he served as president for many years. Stanley enjoyed watching Pennsylvania Polka on WVIA and listening to the polkas after church on Sunday mornings on the radio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ann Virginia (Ginger) Scherer, who passed away on February 10, 1975.

Niece, Mary Lynn Musial and her husband, Mike, of Larksville
Great nieces, Jessica and Kate Jordan and Abby, Julia and Lauren Pilchesky
Companion, Ann Zongilla of Duryea
The family would like to thank Dr. Guy Fasciana, Compassionate Care Hospice and Highland Manor for the care and compassion that was shown to Stanley and his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 10:30 am in Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea with the Rev. Paul McDonnell and Deacon Andre Kabacinski officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Duryea. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1444 East Lackawanna Ave., Suite 218, Olyphant, PA 18447.
