Mrs. Sophie M. Lojewski, 94, formerly of Duryea, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Riverside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Taylor.

Sophie was born in Duryea, the daughter of the late John and Anna Zuris Hamsky. A life long resident of Duryea, she was a graduate of Duryea High School, Class of 1942. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the area garment industry.

She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea. Sophie was a member of the Duryea Senior Sunshine Club and also served on many local and church activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lojewski to whom she was married for 67 years and her brother, Thomas.

Surviving are:

Daughter, Elaine Yurkon and her husband, Bill, of Exeter

Daughter, Barbara Novak and her husband, Joseph, of Duryea

Grandson, Brian Yukon and his wife, Kelly, of Jamison, PA

Grandson, Phil Yurkon of Ardmore, PA

Grandson, John Novak of Texas

Granddaughter, Cathy (Novak) Natale and her husband, Cesare, of Texas

Great grandsons, Matthew and Joshua Yurkon

Great granddaughter, Lydia Natale

Nieces and nephews

Funeral will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at 11:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Duryea. A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
