Ms. Rita Marie Wroblewski, 90 3/4, of Duryea, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at River Street Manor, Wilkes Barre with her loving niece and nephew at her bedside.
She was born on August 20, 1925 to the late Peter and Helen Kaczynski Wroblewski. She graduated from Duryea High School and Marywood University where she received her Bachelors Degree in English. She taught English at Duryea High School and later for Pittston Area School District.
Rita was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea.
She was a member of the Teachers Association.
She loved taking care of her pets and gardening was a part of her daily ritual. Rita found beauty in every type of flower and plant. Her gardening brought special joy to her life.
She was very fond of her best friends, Beverly Dulny, Jessie Adamiak, Rev. Andrew Sinnott, Walter Mackowski and Sister Magnificia. Rev. Andrew was also her spiritual adviser and would come weekly to administer the Eucharist, as Rita was a devoted Catholic. Sister Magnificia was Rita's loving care giver for many years until illness prevented her from continuing.
Rita was an avid Penn State fan and idolized Joe Paterno. She enjoyed watching golf on tv.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph Wroble, Arthur Wroble, Eugene Wroble and Edward Wroblewski and and one sister, Sister Ermellene Wroble.
She is survived by her loving niece and care giver, Margarette Gryskevicz Kearney

Rita's funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at 10:30 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Holy Rosary Church, Duryea with the Rev. Andrew Sinnott officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea. Friends may call Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. A viewing will also be held on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bernadine Franciscan Sisters, 450 St. Bernadine Street, Reading, PA 19607.
