Mr. Richard (Dick) Joseph Sapolis, 80, of Kingston, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Duryea, he was the son of the late Thomas and Josephine Kovalan Sapolis. He was a graduate of the last class of Duryea High School in 1962. Following high school, he entered the military service with a commission as a Second Lieutenant. After 21 years of service, including serving in Vietnam, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He returned to Northeast Pennsylvania where he pursued his career at First Hospital, Kingston where he retired from Administration.

Richard was a member of the VFW Post 283, Kingston.

Richard was preceded in death by his son, Richard, age 4, stepson, Timothy Anderson, sisters, Ella Mae and Dorothy and brothers, William and Thomas.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, the former Patsy Tribus of Kingston
Daughter, Lisa Sapolis and her husband, Joel Freedman of New York
Stepdaughter, Christine Gangaware and her husband, David of Ohio
Stepson, Matthew Anderson of Kingston

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
