Kosik

Mr. Michael E. Kosik, 83, of Dupont, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Regional Hospital of Scranton surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 5, 1932, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Kosik. He was a graduate of  Dupont High School. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by General Dynamics, Eynon.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.

He was a member of the former St. John the Baptist Holy Name Society, the VFW Post 4909, Dupont, the Greater Pittston AMVets, the American Legion Post 585 Duryea, the Dupont Polish Club, the Red Barons Booster Club, and he was a Life Member of Germania Hose Co., Duryea.

He served as Corporal in the Korean War with the U.S. Army. While serving, he received the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Korean Service Medal.

He loved his sports. He was a season ticket holder to the Red Barons and never missed a game. He loved watching the Phillies and rooted for anyone who played against the Yankees. You knew when a game was on when you heard him yelling at the television.

He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He touched the lives of many. He loved everyone and anyone who knew him loved him. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed. His pride and joy were his great granddaughters. He loved them with all his heart. He loved to dance the polkas with Piper and Pagye. He was happy when people would call just to chat or stop by to see him. People could sit for hours with him just listening to all the stories he had to tell and was quick with a joke. He always had a smile on his face no matter how much pain he was in. He never wanted anyone to worry. He made sure to call his son twice a day to check in. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Cousin Mickey always had a jovial attitude. My kids only remember him as Santa coming to visit at PopPop Andy's house. He was the perfect Santa in many ways. Our prayers are with you Irene and your family.
