Mrs. Maryrose Poplarchick, of Duryea, entered into eternal peace and happiness on Sunday, October 26, 2014. She had been a resident of Wesley Village, Pittston since her illness last year.

A lifelong resident of Duryea, Maryrose was born on May 4, 1933 to the late Stanley and Mary Hantz Kabacinski. Maryrose was a graduate of Duryea High School and was employed as a seamstress at Brooks, Old Forge and then at Mr.Z's, Duryea as a bakery assistant prior to her retirement.

Maryrose was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea where she was a member of St. Cecilia's choir for over 70 years. She was a member and a past president of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers at Holy Rosary Church, and a current member of the Nativity of Our Lord Women's Society.

Maryrose was deeply dedicated to her strong Catholic faith in both songs and prayers, despite enduring many medical complications and obstacles over the years. In her beloved home, she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family, along with cooking her countless ethnic and gourmet specialties, baking her cutting edge desserts, and crocheting and crafting anything and everything with a needle and thread or a ball of yarn.

In addition to her parents, Maryrose was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Poplarchick, who passed away on August 11, 1989, brothers, Joseph, Edward, Bernard and Albert and sister, Thelma.

Maryrose leaves behind her loving and devoted children:
Daughter, Patti Poplarchick of Philadelphia
Son, Brian Poplarchick and his wife, Roxanne, of Duryea
Daughter, Louise Poplarchick of Scranton

The two loves of her life, her grandchildren, Nicholas and Gabrielle
Sister in law, Marie Caffrey and her husband, Paul, of Endicott, New York
Brother in law, Thomas Poplarchick of Peckville
Many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, especially dedicated nephew, Andre Kabacinski and his wife, MaryAnn and niece, Angela Rusnock and her husband, Darryl.
She will also be missed dearly by her best friend, Anna Rita McGlynn.

The family would like to thank Dr. Guy Fasciana for his exceptional care and commitment to Maryrose over the years. Maryrose was so proud of being one of Dr. Fasciana's first patients after he completed his medical residency. The family would also like to thank the entire nursing and activity staffs at Wesley Village for the excellent care and attention that was rendered to Maryrose, with extra special thanks to caretakers, Terry, Tanya, Joy, Joline, Mary Ann and Kathy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at 11:30 am in Holy Rosary Church, Duryea with the Rev. Andrew Sinnott officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea. Maryrose's family will receive family and friends on Saturday morning from 10:30 am to the time of the Mass at the church. Arrangements are by the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea. The souls of the just are in the hand of God. no torment shall touch them. They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead; and their passing away was thought an affliction and their going forth from us , utter destruction. But they are in peace. Wisdom 3-1-3. Rest in Peace Maryrose.
