Mrs. Marie T. Barbarevech, 75, of Duryea, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton.

Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Helen Rome Capone. She was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School and Marywood University. Prior to her retirement she was employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.

She was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Barbarevech, who passed away on January 29, 1992.

Surviving are:
Son, Dr. Christopher Barbarevech and his wife, Teresa, of Moosic
Granddaughter, Kristiana Barbarevech of Moosic
Granddaughter, Karissa Barbarevech of Moosic

Brother, Gaetano Capone and his wife, Barbara, of Yatesville
Niece, Alexandria Capone of Philadelphia
Faithful companions, Spunky, Kaylee and Salmon

The family would like to thank the staff of Geisinger Community Medical Center for the care and compassion that was shown to Marie and her family.

Funeral will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016, at 9:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Entombment will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. A viewing will be held on Monday from 8:00 am to 9:00 am at the funeral home.
