Marie Chromey

Mrs. Marie Chromey, 82, formerly of Duryea, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018, at Allied Services Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Scranton.

Born in Duryea, she was the daughter of the late John and Evelyn Runski Zongilla. Marie was a graduate of Duryea High School, Class of 1953. Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the area garment industry.

Marie was a member of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Duryea where she was an active member of their choir. She is a member Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea.

Prior to moving to Allied, Marie lived at the Crossin Towers, Duryea where she was a very active member of their societies. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading and quilting. She was a loving mom and grandma and enjoyed spending her time babysitting her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Jerome, son, Jerome P. Jr. and two brothers, John and Paul.

Daughter, Amy Meadows and her husband, John, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi
Daughter, Barbara Smith and her husband, Gary, of Bear Creek Township
Son, Michael Chromey of Saucier, Mississippi
Son, John Chromey of Saucier, Mississippi

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at 9:30 am in Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Duryea. There will be no public viewing. Arrangements are by the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
