Margarette “Patricia” Wroblewski-Gryskevicz, 85, Duryea/ North End Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at her daughter Lisa’s house on July 23, 2026. Margarette was surrounded by family and love as she passed unto Heaven. Margarette was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on June 10, 1941 to Edward Wroblewski and Florence Ostrowski-Wroblewski. She was raised on Tannery Street in the North End section Wilkes-Barre along with her four siblings. Margarette was proceeded in death by Edward Wroblewski, Ronald Wroblewski, Barbara Koviak, and Louise Comer.

First and foremost, Margarette was a mother, grandmother, and a great grandmother. Her five children, Eddie Jr., Gerald, Lisa, Michael, and Charles were the loves of her life. She was then blessed with seven grandchildren, Desaree, Ryan, Jacqueline, Tyler, Andrew, Amanda, and Liam. And, blessed again with five great grandchildren, Jayce, Wyatt, Wilder, Kayne, and Elin Bean.

Margarette was a devoted mother, wife, neighbor, and friend. The only act of moral service that came before Margarette being a mother, was being a servant of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Margarette was a devote Christian of the Catholic faith. She would be the first to volunteer herself, and most likely one or more of her children for a church fundraiser or event. Especially in her younger years at St. John the Evangelist Church, Sacred Heart of Jesus/ St John Parish, and later on at St Andre Bessette Parish all located along N. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. One of Pats main life callings was caring for the homeless. Margarette regularly volunteered her time at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, Wilkes-Barre. Pat lived by the Luzerne County Correctional Facility, and was known on more than one occasion give a newly released prisoner an old jacket she had lying around. So, that they weren’t cold on their journey towards a better life.

Margarette, who many nicknamed “Pat or Patricia” which was her middle name. Was so full of love that she went to school to become a LPN at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing. She was like an angel dressed in white. Pat started her nursing career at Leader East Nursing Home in Kingston, now known as Edenbrook on 2nd Ave. Shortly after starting her career. Margarette was in a horrible car accident that almost left her permanently disabled. Through all adversary Pat fought and regained her ability to walk through faith and determination. We still joke that the Polish inherited trait of stubbornness was a contributing factor in her recovery. Pat went on to return to work at Leader East. But, eventually continued her career at River Street Manor Wilkes-Barre for many years. Before, finishing her career becoming a Private Duty Nurse. A job which she loved doing ever after retirement. She would frequently like to remind you that it’s ok to not follow directions exactly sometimes because “Don’t forget she was a Nurse!” Margarette was the first to look after her ailing mother, her elderly father, and her aunt Rita. Pat was an example for our family to follow. All while by not being perfect. But by just being a loving person.

Pat was an outdoors women through and through. She enjoyed going up her camper at Hidden Lake Camp Ground (Shickshinny). Where she spent many nights fishing off someone’s dock. Hot dogs and night crawlers in hand. She would bait her hook and unhook em with the best of the men. Only exception was the time she hooked a behemoth of a snapping turtle fishing off a dock. Many summer nights were filled with games of rummy 500, or just simply sitting around the campfire making s’mores. As one can imagine, Pat followed in her Aunt Rita Wroblewski’s footsteps. Margarette loved all plants, flowers, and animals. We joke that her was left thumb was permanently green. She found happiness by simply using spoons to find worms with her grandchildren, or peace in just trimming a bush or tree. In the end she made an unlikely friend in a box named Alexa. Together they enjoyed many arguments and shared news stories with each other Margarette will be missed by all, but not Alexa. Because she is joining her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 9:30 am in Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea with the Rev. Michael Bryant officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea. If desired, memorial contributions may made to St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen, 39 East Jackson Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
