Dr. Leonard B. Walukas, 87, of Duryea passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Duryea, he was the son of the late Bernard and Victoria Semanski Walukas. He was a graduate of Duryea High School, Ithaca College, New York and the National College of Chiropractic, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a licensed chiropractor who conducted business out of his home in Duryea for many years prior to his retirement.

He was a member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, Duryea.

He was a member of the Masons, Pittston and the American Legion Post 585, Duryea.

He was an avid fisherman and frequently visited the Arctic Circle, Canada.

He was preceded in death by his wife the former, Viola Mahalsky, who passed away on December 5, 1986, and sisters, Florence Dauplaise and Regina Mihok.

Daughter, Christina Walukas of Duryea
Son, Christopher Walukas of Duryea
Sister, Amelia Edwards of Maryland
Sister, Ellen Twardus and her husband, Edward, of Deleware
Nieces and nephews

Funeral will be Thursday, March 26, 2015, at 10:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with Mass at 10:30 am in St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, 200 Stephenson Street, Duryea with the Rev. Fr. Carmen G. Bolock officiating. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery, Duryea. Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. A wake service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm by the Rev. Fr. Carmen G. Bolock. The American Legion Post 585, Duryea will conduct military services Wednesday evening at 7:15 pm.
