Leo J. Facciponti

Mr. Leo J. Facciponti, 93, of Duryea, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2015, at Highland Manor, Exeter where he was a guest for the last several years.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Anthony and Ignatzia Rizzo Facciponti. He attended Pittston Schools.

He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea.

Leo taught himself to play the accordion and has been playing since the age of 6. Leo was a very accomplished musician and accordion player. Throughout the years, he had the privilege of playing in numerous Italian bands. Although his music will no longer be heard here on earth, he will continue playing in heaven.

He was a very loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, but especially enjoyed when he grandchildren would come visit him at the nursing home.  Leo also enjoyed listening to the polkas. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Shirley Hintze, who passed away on December 27, 2006, his son, Anthony, who passed away on December 28, 2001 and several brothers and sisters.

Daughter, Mary Jane Sabuto and her husband, John, of Duryea
Son, Leonard Facciponti and his wife, Laurie, of Duryea
Son, Christopher Facciponti of Duryea
Daughter, Lisa Feeney and her husband, Kenneth, of Pittston

Grandchildren:
John, Daniel, Derreck, Adam, Marissa, Carlie, Catelyn and Wyatt
Great granddaughter:
Claire
Nieces and nephews

The family would like to thank Dr. Guy Fasciana and the staff at Highland Manor for the exceptional care and compassion that was given to Leo throughout the years. If desired, memorial contributions may be given to Holy Rosary School, c/o their music department, 125 Stephenson Street, Duryea, PA 18642.

Funeral will be held Friday, January 16, 2015, with the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Duryea with the Rev. Andrew Sinnott officiating. Interment will be in West Pittston Cemetery, West Pittston. Family and friends may call Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea.
