Mrs. Josephine Maruska, 97, of Duryea, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Wesley Village, Pittston.

Born in Jessup, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ritzco Toth and attended Jessup Schools.

She was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Daniel Maruska, who passed away on December 29, 2010, brothers, Andrew, Anthony, Edward, George, John, Joseph, Michael and Stephen and sisters, Anna, Dorothy, Helen, Margaret and Mary.

Surviving is:
Son, Charles Maruska and his wife, Susan, of Dupont
Daughter, Arlene Hoover and her husband, Alan, of Duryea
Grandson, Justin Maruska and his wife, Brittany, of Dupont
Grandson, Nicholas Maruska and his wife, Amanda, of Carlisle
Great grandchildren, Alexander, Vienna and Anna Maruska of Dupont

Sister, Veronica Kura of Woodbury Heights, New Jersey
Nieces and nephews

The family would like to thank Serenity Care, Wyoming and Wesley Village, Pittston for the care and compassion that was shown to Josephine and her family.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 10:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with Mass of the Divine Liturgy at 10:30 am in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 205 North Main Street, Pittston with the Rev. Andrii Dumnych officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Pittston. A viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the funeral home.
