Mr. Joseph S. Wnenta, of Duryea, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020, at his home.
Born in Duryea, he was the son of the late Stanley and Eleanor Shepulski Wnenta and was a graduate of Pittston Area High School. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by TP Corporation, Duryea.
Joseph was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending his time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his dog, Azul. One of his favorite past times was watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a member of Excelsior Hose Company #2, Duryea, having served as past fire chief from 1981-1989. He was a former coach of the Duryea Wildcats and UFCW Local 402, having previously served as president.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Wnenta and nephew, Robert Graham.
He and his wife, the former Grace Graham, celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary this past June 29th.

Son, Brian Wnenta and his fiancee, Tina Ridley, of Duryea
Daughter, Lisa Edmonds and her husband, Sam, of Pittston

A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Excelsior Hose Company #2 Duryea, 798 Foote Ave. Duryea, PA 18642, PO Box 2068.
