Mr. Joseph L. McAndrew, 87, of Johnson City, New York, passed away quietly in his sleep on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the Hillcrest Convalescent Center, Durham, North Carolina.

Born in Duryea, he was the son of the late William Patrick and Julia Vilogi McAndrew. He was a graduate of Duryea High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a life long member of the VFW and American Legion. Mr. McAndrew married the love of his life, Geraldine Plona, in September of 1960, then moved to Binghamton, New York where they became members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Prior to this retirement, he worked at IBM for 26 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Plona McAndrew and his sister, Elizabeth McAndrew D

Son, Joseph McAndrew and his wife, Heather, of Chapel Hill, NC
Granddaughter, Mallory McAndrew
Granddaughter, Danielle McAndrew Powell and her husband, Ryan
Greatgrandson, Ryan Powell Jr.

Brother, William McAndrew and his wife, Betty
Sister, Ruth McAndrew Lyons
Sister, Mary McAndrew Zilas
Sister, Agnes McAndrew McGraw and her husband, Ronald
Many cherished nieces and nephews

A viewing was held in North Carolina. Funeral services and interment will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 10:30 am in St. John's Cemetery, Duryea, by the Rev. Putano, Pastor of St. Patrick's Church. The AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston will conduct military services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to FisherHouse.org, an organization helping Veterans and their families. Arrangements are by the Bernard J.
