Mr. John P. Uhrin, 94, of Duryea, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton.

Born in Old Forge, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Stefanko Uhrin and was a graduate of Old Forge High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II. John was formerly employed by Consolidated Molded Products, Minooka and Hillcrest Lamp and Shade, Old Forge.

He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea.

John was a loving husband, father grandfather and gentleman. His good nature, humor and kindness touched many lives. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all who knew him. John loved doing crossword puzzles, scratching off lottery tickets, gardening, fishing and golfing. He enjoyed watching the Phillies, Penn State and Eagle's Football.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Gertrude A. Faulent, who passed away on September 15, 2013, after 62 years of marriage, brothers, Richard and David and sisters, Edna Lamberti, Elaine Marcos and Geraldine Uhrin.

Daughter, Carole Hilenski and her husband, Larry, of Duryea
Grandson, Jeffrey Rhin
Grandson, Danny Polerecki

Brother, Jerry Uhrin and his wife, Jackie, of Old Forge
Brother, Teddy Uhrin and his wife, Diane, of Old Forge
Sister, Marlene DiSimoni of Old Forge
Nieces and nephews

The family would like to thank the staff of the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center for the care and compassion that was shown to John and his family throughout the years.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 9:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea with the Rev. Michael Bryant officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Duryea. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
