Mr. John M. Salek, of Duryea, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late John and Mary Nicheporchek Salek and was a graduate of Pittston Area High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Lackawanna County Sewer Authority.

John was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Frances (Bonnie) Salek Davis.

Surviving is:
Nephew, Mark Davis
Cousins, Esther, Michael, Paul, Raymond and Anita
Friend and caregiver, Christopher Menichini

Funeral services and interment will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 11:00 am in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea with Deacon Andre Kabacinski officiating. There will be no viewing. Arrangements are by the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea.
