Mr. John Anthony Yurkanin, 45, of Duryea, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014, in Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of Cynthia Moluski Yurkanin of Duryea and the late John Yurkanin Jr. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School. He was formerly employed by the former Kurlancheeks, Duryea and by Raymor and Flanigan, Duryea.

He was a loving son, brother, uncle and great uncle. He was an avid fisherman and loved sports.

Surviving in addition to his mother are:
Sister, Lori Wasik and her husband, Matthew, of Duryea
Nephew, Timothy Williams and his wife, Alisea, of Pittston
Niece, Nicole Grochal and her husband, Nicholas, of Duryea
Great nephews, Matthew and Jacob Grochal of Duryea
Great niece, Mackynzie Grochal of Duryea
Aunts, uncles, cousins and friends

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the wonderful care and compassion that was shown to John and his family. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William Street, Dunmore, Pa. 18512.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in Lighthouse Fellowship, 718 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston by Pastor Shane Nichols. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral. Friends may call Sunday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Bernard J.
