So sorry to hear about aunt Joanie. I will always remember her hospitality on holidays when we would come and visit. I know she was having health problems, so now she can be free from the pain . I'm sure she's giving Joann a great big hug in heaven! Love you aunt Joanie <3

Dear Hank, Tony, Vicky, Al, Johnny, Chris, Missy, Bill, and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I know that I haven't been to Duryea for awhile, but I still think about all of you daily. You are always in our prayers. I asked Father Nick if he could remember her, and all of you, in his prayers this weekend. I have always felt blessed to have a Godmother like Joanie. She always concerned herself more with doing things for others, rather than for herself. In spite of her vision problems, and frailty, Joanie was a blessing to Aunt Lena during Aunt Lena's final years. Both Mom and Aunt Lena would talk about Joanie walking over and bringing her something that she just made, or baked, and keep her company. Joanie was a very special individual, and I know that she will be missed by all. I feel proud to have her as my Godmother and a role model. However, I don't think that I'll ever be able to fill her shoes. Being the youngest of the 34 cousins, I really didn't "grow up with you", nor did I grow up in the same enviroment. All I can say is that all of the children of Bruney and Nellie Nowakowski have something special about them that you don't see in most people. I love you all, and will continue to keep all of you in my prayers. I know that Joanie is already in heaven with JoAnn, and all of the family that have already left us. Jimmy

Joan spent her life helping others and not asking or wanting anything for herself. Her Mother lived with her; and, Joan took care of Aunt Nellie for years. Joan also helped Aunt Lena to take care of herself and cousin,Gene. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
