Mr. James J. Barborek Sr., 83, formerly of Pittston and Ransom, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center, Oylphant where he resided for the past three and a half years.
Born in Russellville, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Henry and Julia Prochazka Barborek. He graduated high school in Charleston, Missouri. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. For 42 years, James was employed by the former Celotex Corporation, Harding.
James enjoyed going fishing with his son, John.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Catherine A. Homschek, his second wife, the former Evelyn Conden Salvo, brother, Henry Barborek, and two sisters, Bessie Moorie and Rosie Jones.

Son, James Barborek Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Haggerstown, Maryland
Stepson, Robert Salvo and his wife, Donna, of Exeter

Stepdaughter, Denise Spoon and her husband, Michael, of Wyoming

Funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at 9:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea. Interment will be in Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
