Mr. Herman Hughes, 55, of Duryea, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Beverly Siejak. He was a graduate of GAR High School. He served in the United States Army. He was currently employed as a dispatcher for the 911 Center, Hanover Township.

He was a member of the Pittston City Fire Department, Niagara Engine Company.  Herman was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Surviving are:
His wife, the former Jo Ann O'Boyle
Son, Paul Hughes and his wife, Donna, of Dallas
Son, Justin Hughes of Ransom
Grandson, Jacob

Father and mother in law, Joseph and Anna Mae O'Boyle of Pittston
Brother and sister in law, Joe and Maria O'Boyle and their daughter, Yanna of Jenkins Township

A viewing will be held Friday, January 16, 2015, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea. Funeral services will be private. To leave the family an online condolence, please visit the funeral home website: www.piontekfuneralhome.com.

Herman was one of the best dispatchers from the 911 center, I've known him since his dispatching days in Pittston city. God bless his family. Herman will be missed by all who knew him, rest in peace my friend

I have known him for a long time , thru his mom. We worked together at Nesbit and Herman was always a good topic. He loved him a lot.
