Mrs. Helen Schiavo, 89, of Duryea, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013, at her home.

Born in Duryea, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Frances Przedzankowski. She was a graduate of Duryea High School. Prior to her retirement she was employed by the area garment industry.

She was a member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, Duryea.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, bowling and gardening.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Schiavo Sr., who passed away on March 26, 2004, three brothers, Bolek, John and Metchin and three sisters, Catherine Korek, Josephine Fenn and Jean Srabnoski.

Surviving are:
Son, Arthur Schiavo Jr. of Hershey
Daughter, Lisa Sciandra and her husband, John, of Harding
Daughter, Kim DeMark and her husband, Peter, of Duryea

Five grandchildren:
Laura Schiavo
Malcolm and Jennifer Sciandra
Anthony and Christopher DeMark

Funeral will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 9:00 A.M. from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with Mass at 9:30 A.M. in St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, Duryea with services by the Rev. Carmen Bolek. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Duryea. Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
