Mrs. Helen Grala, 86, of Old Forge, passed away Tuesday evening at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton.

Born in Duryea. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Hayduk Vanko. She was a graduate of Duryea High School. She was formerly employed in the area garment industry.

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Scranton.

She was an avid gardener, loved to go to the casino and travel. She resided in Old Forge for most of her married life.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, John S. Grala, who passed away on March 12, 1990 after 43 years of marriage.
Also proceeding her death were: brothers, George and Michael Vanko and sisters, Anna Rupp, Margaret Brojock and Mary Dushko

Surviving are:
Daughter: Ann M. Salamon and her husband, Michael, of Springbrook
Daughter: Christine Vennarini and her husband, Charles, of Pittston Township
Daughter: Theresa Holmes and her husband, John, of Santa Fe., New Mexico
Daughter: Jeanne Robideau and her husband, Kirk, of Oswego, New York

Four Grandsons:
Michael Salamon and his wife, Katie
Mark Salamon and his wife, Jennifer
Charles Vennarini and his girlfriend, Lisa Granahan
Joseph Vennarini and his wife, Debbie

Eight Great Grandchildren:
Michael John, Connor, Matthew, Cora, Kade, Colette, Corin and Kieran

Funeral will be held Saturday at 9:45 AM from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc. 204 Main Street, Duryea with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Divine Mercy Parish, Scranton with the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli officiating. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Duryea. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
