Mrs. Helen (Etty) Polansky, 94, formerly of Pittston, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Wesley Village, Pittston.
Born in Duryea, Helen was the daughter of the late Andrew and Catherine Grabosky Lasky. She was a graduate of Duryea High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the area garment industry.
Helen was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pittston prior to its closing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Polansky, who passed away on December 18, 2009, grandson, Michael Polansky, brothers, Stanley, William, Msgr. Joseph J. and Andrew, sisters, Julia Farrell, Genevieve Urban, Janet Lasky, Martha Parry, Elizabeth Ostrowski and Sophie McGarrity.
Surviving are:
Son, George M. Polansky and his wife, Theresa, of Bellefonte
Son, Joseph Polansky and his wife, Kathryn, of Scranton
Daughter, Dr. Janet Polansky of New Market, VA
7 grandchildren
8 great grandchildren
Brother, Robert Lasky of West Wyoming
Sister, Lucille Arnone of Wilkes-Barre

Funeral will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at 10:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Duryea. A viewing will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the funeral home. Janet, I am sorry for your loss of your mum. I too loss my mum just 2 years ago. Your parents are always with you though gone. Things you remember with your parents, they are there with you. Hope you are well enough and surrounded with love.

I was very sorry to hear about the death of your mother. She was a lovely person. Our parents were friends many years ago My mother was fron sevastepool and your Dad Dad worked with my father lying tile back in the 50's and early 60's.
