Gertrude R. Yachna, 89, of Duryea, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Duryea, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lottie Mergel Yachna and was a graduate of Duryea High School, Class of 1950. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the former Lori Dress Factory, Pittston.

She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Edmund, Alfred, Stephen and Harry and sisters, Victoria Yachna, Marie Kutza, Bernadine Tetlak, Pearl Breymeier and Loretta Yachna.

Surviving are:
Sister, Johanna Yachna of Duryea
Nephew, James Yachna, who she helped raised like her own, of Duryea
Nieces and nephews

Funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 11:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea with the Rev. Michael Bryant officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea. A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
