Mrs. Gertrude Abent, 94, of Duryea, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Geisinger CMC, Scranton.

Born in Duryea, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Mary Kovalchick Gorchienski. She attended Duryea Schools. Prior to her retirement she was employed in the area garment industry.

She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea.

She was a loving mom, grandma and great grandma.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, John, son, John Jr., daughter, Catherine Gorcenski, brothers, Adam and Edward, and sisters, Helen Nadolny, Stella Jasnoski, Josephine Gosse and Lottie Plona.

 
Surviving are:
Daughter, Joan Golushka and her husband, Eddie, of Duryea
Daughter, Mariann Aruscavage and her husband, Bill, of Duryea

Nine grandchildren
Five great grandchildren

Funeral will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 9:00 A.M. from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 A.M. in Holy Rosary Church, Duryea with the Rev. Andrew Sinnott officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea. Friends may call Tuesday at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
