Mr. Gerald A. Butler, 88, of Duryea, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Allied Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton.
Born in Duryea, he was the son of the late Joseph G. and Helen Matt Butler. He attended Duryea High School. He served in the United States as a Merchant Marine during World War II. Prior to his retirement in 1980, he was employed by Ford Motor Company, Sterling Heights, Michigan.
He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea. He was a former council President for Duryea Borough.
He was a loving, understanding and great adviser to family and friends. He enjoyed spending family time with his brother in law, Joseph. He was an avid gardener and landscaper.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Romaine Standarowski, who passed away on May 4, 1996, son, Gerald E. Butler, who passed away in 1969, son, Paul A. Butler, who passed away in 1998, and a brother, Joseph A. Butler, who passed away in 1976.

Funeral will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at 9:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Holy Rosary Church, Duryea. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Duryea.
