Mr. Frank (Woz) Wozniak, 54, of Moosic, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Dupont, he was the son of Eleanor Frati Bruno and the step son of Joseph Bruno of Moosic.

Frank was a graduate of Pittston Area High School. After high school, Frank joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard 55th Brigade and was honorary discharged. He received his nursing degree from Wilkes Barre Area AVTS Practical Nursing Program. He was a paramedic, graduating from the first class at LCCC. Frank had spent his whole life wearing different hats but, the outcome was always the same. The love he had taking care of the sick and injured was his true passion.

He joined the Avoca Fire Department at the age of 16 and has become a life member. During his years at the fire department, he was not only a volunteer but also served several terms as an Officer. Frank became one of the founding members of the Avoca Ambulance Association, and served as Vice President and then Captain. Frank became Geisingers 1st Recipient of the James "Sox" Ruane EMS Provider of the Year Award in 2014. During his 35 years plus in the medical field, Frank had multiple jobs, some at the same time. Some of the different jobs that Frank had were Assistant Faculty at LCCC EMS Program; Geisinger Medic 303, Paramedic Coordinator; Mercy Hospital Medic 301 (Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre), Paramedic Coordinator; Nesbitt Hospital Medic 302; Back Mountain Medic 1; Plains Medic 2, Staff Paramedic; Wilkes-Barre Medic 3; Scranton Mobile 3; Medic 6; Berwick Hospital Medic 701, Paramedic Coordinator; Hanover Medic 9, Staff Paramedic; Geisinger LifeFlight, Flight Paramedic; Avoca Fire Department, Life Member and Past Officer; Avoca Ambulance, Founding Member and Captain and Past Vice President; and Geisinger Clinic, Clinic Nurse.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his aunt, Henrietta Barbieri.

His and his wife the former Barbara Guitson celebrated their 5th Wedding Anniversary on September 4th.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 10:00 am in Holy Rosary Church,127 Stephenson Street, Duryea.
Friends may call Friday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions made to the Avoca Ambulance Association, 740 Main Street, Avoca, PA 18641 or the Avoca Fire Department, 740 Main Street, Avoca, PA 18641.
