Mrs. Elizabeth M. Zbylicki, 74, of Duryea, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton after a long illness.

Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret Brennan McGroarty. She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1966 and attended Luzerne County Community College and King's College. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 28 years by Verizon, Scranton.

Liz was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea. She was a member of Nativity our Lord Women's Society, the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a member and chief steward of the local branch of CWA 13500 Union.

Liz was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and she loved spending time with them. She enjoyed reading, loved dogs, turning up the thermostat on her husband and traveling, especially her trip to Ireland.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William McGroarty.

Liz and her husband, Joseph, celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary this past September 11th.

Daughter, Jessica Carson and her husband, Phil, of Stroudsburg
Son, Joseph K. Zbylicki and his wife, Lori, of Reeders
Daughter, Stephanie Lapsansky and her husband, Joe, of Jenkins Township
Daughter, Mary Kate Zbylicki of Duryea

Grandchildren:
Molly, Peyton, Bryce, Kylie, Nicky and Morgan

Brother, Joseph McGroarty of Luzerne
Sister, Anne Malahowski and her husband, John, of Lakeville, Minnesota
Nieces, nephew and cousins

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 10:00 am in Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea with the Rev. Michael Bryant officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral. A viewing will be on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea.
