Mrs. Carol Chmiel (Cookie) McDonnell, 73, of Dupont, went home to be with the lord on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Regional Hospital of Scranton, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Duryea, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Bertha Smigiel Chmiel. She was a graduate of Duryea High School.

She was a member of St. Ann's Basilica, Scranton and attended Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea.

She was a caring and loving mother, sister, aunt and friend who always made everything special for everyone she knew. She was devoted to god and to the rosary.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Alfreda Sagnelli, Loretta Podolsky, Bernice Gardner, Lucille Moran, Charlotte Healey, Rita Snopkowski and Eleanor Chmiel.

Surviving are:
Daughter, Karen Bloom of Dupont
Son, William McDonnell of Dupont
Sister, Theresa Tighe and her husband, Leo, of Pittston
Nieces and nephews

Funeral will be held Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 9:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Holy Rosary Church, Duryea. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Scranton.
