Mr. Carl David Smith, 70, of Wanamie, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at his home following a courageous battle with several major illnesses.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Ervin and Marie Kiley Smith. He was a graduate of Meyers High School and attended Lackawanna Junior College Police Academy. Prior to his retirement, he served as Police Chief for Newport Township Police Department.

Carl was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, traveling and going out for breakfast..

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Smith.

He and his wife, the former Judith Ann Warabak, just celebrated their 38th Wedding Anniversary this past January 26th.

Sister in law, Janet Smith of Wilkes-Barre
Nieces and nephews

Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy was held in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church by Rev. Andrii Dumnych. Interment was in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Pittston. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to, St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 205 North Main Street, Pittston, PA 18640. Arrangements were by the Bernard J. I'm so sorry for your loss. I first met Carl in 1972 when we worked together at Fowler, Dick and Walker. He was a groomsman in my wedding in 1974. Such a nice man and great friend. He will surely be missed by all.
