Anna Shugdinis, 102, of Pittston, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 25, 2024.
Born in Pittston on January 6, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Zubanas Shugdinis. She was a graduate of Pittston High School. She was fondly remembered by her many customers from Detato's Supermarket where she worked as a cashier until her retirement.
She was a lifelong member of St. Casimir's Church, Pittston until its closing and then joined as a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.
She especially enjoyed spending time with her sister Alice's family in Long Island and traveling and sight-seeing with her sister Margaret. She enjoyed monthly bus trips to Atlantic City with the gang (sisters Helen and Regina and niece Barbara) until the local casino opened up. She will be sadly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Karkut, John Shugdinis, Margaret Shugdinis, Frank Shugdinis, Andrew Shugdinis, Helen Karkut and Alice Lufrano.
She is survived by her loving sister, Regina Ostrowski of Pittston and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services and interment were held in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Pittston. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are by the Bernard J.
