Mrs. Anna Pocholonis, 98, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, July 11th, 2023. She was born on September 22nd, 1924, and was the daughter of the late John and Aniela Kowalski.

Anna was a high school graduate, schooled in Duryea, Pennsylvania.

Anna was married to Peter Pocholonis until his death in 1978.

In her earlier years, Anna was employed by the Cigar Factory in Pittston, Pennsylvania. She then became employed by Schott Optical in Duryea, where she ultimately retired from.

After retirement, Anna just couldn't sit still. She then became employed at the Senior Citizens Center in Falls, Pennsylvania, where she enjoyed working with all her fellow friends and peers. She didn't retire from there until her late 80s.

Anna was a fiercely strong, feisty, and independent woman, who up until 5 months prior to her passing, lived at her own home where she loved to clean her house, cut her grass, and work outdoors. She took great pride in being able to do these tasks by herself at her age.

Anna was also a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church, Duryea, where she sung in the choir for many years.

Anna had many joys and blessings in her life, but the greatest blessing that brought her immense joy was her son, Peter, who died at the untimely age of 12 in a baseball accident. She longed to be with him again.

Anna was affectionately referred to as "Aunt Nanny" by her niece, great nieces, and grandnephew.

Anna loved and adored her niece, Suzanne Kasteleba, who she considered her caretaker and best friend. They traveled and cruised together yearly. She looked forward to their weekly shopping trips together and eating out afterwards. She had much gratitude for all Suzanne did for her.

She also loved her two great nieces, Suzanne Halko and Anita Budzilek. She looked forward to holiday celebrations at her great niece, Suzanne's home, where Polish traditions were always kept and at cookouts Suzanne had at her home where Anna could be with family. She also loved when her great niece, Anita, would let her babysit her beagle, Lady. Anita would leave Lady with her quite often so she could enjoy the company of Lady.

Anna loved and had a special place in her heart and twinkle in her eye for her grandnephew, Andrew Halko. She loved his great big blue eyes and how he always made her laugh. She enjoyed attending his school functions and birthday parties over the years and watching him grow.

In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Pocholonis, and her beloved son Peter. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, John and Joseph Kowalski, Sophie Nestorick, and Blanche Hynes.

Surviving are niece, Suzanne Kasteleba; nephew Michael Nestorick and companion Diane, nephew; David Nestorick and wife Patricia, great nieces Suzanne Halko and her husband John; Anita Budzilek and husband Joseph, great niece Aniela Nguyen, her husband and children; great nephew David Nestorick, Jr., his wife and children, and grandnephew Andrew Halko.
