The servant of God, Anna Marie Martinelli, fell asleep in the hands of the Lord on Saturday morning, January 29, 2022, at Wesley Village, where she was a resident.
Anna was born on January 26, 1949, in Duryea, to the late Joseph Vincent and Eleanor Matiko Martinelli.
Educated in Duryea, she graduated in 1966 from Northeast High School and in 1970 from East Stroudsburg State College with a degree in English education. Anna took her strong will and talents to the Easton Area school district, where she taught 4th grade. During that time, she contracted multiple sclerosis, and although her life was not easy, she relied on her strong Byzantine Catholic faith to guide her through many challenges.
She eventually came back to her roots and built a home in Duryea. Some of Anna's greatest joys in life were her houseplants, roses, and her beloved cats.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Martinelli, Dunmore, an unborn son, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Surviving are her brother, David Martinelli and wife Judy, Duryea, sister, Mari Martinelli, Pittston Twp., brother, John Martinelli and wife Marianne, Madison Twp., sister in law, Dobbie Martinelli, Dunmore, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the excellent care given to Anna during her years at Wesley Village.
