Mrs. Ann Frances Kurzweil, 84, of Old Forge, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late John and Nell Augustitus Rincavage and was a graduate of Old Forge High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Department of Health, Division of Nursing Care Facilities, Scranton.
Ann Frances was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Church, Duryea prior to its closing. After the closing of her church, she became a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea where she was a member of the Women's Society, Pastoral Council, a Eucharistic Minister and a Reader at Mass. Ann Frances was very active in the church picnics and enjoyed a Jell-O shot the last night of the picnic.
Ann Frances was a kind, loving and humble woman of great faith who deeply loved her daughters and was very proud and deeply rooted in her Lithuanian Heritage. She enjoyed the simple things in life, like sitting on her porch listening to the rain, reading a good book, doing crossword puzzles and collecting recipes for her son in law, Jeff, to make for her while they enjoyed Manhattans. She also enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, nature and of course feeding all the critters that came into her yard. Everyone who met Ann Frances loved her and her kindness. She definitely left a lasting impression on everyone she met, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Christine Secula, who passed away on June 5, 2011.
Surviving is her husband, Seymour Kurzweil, of Old Forge
Daughter, Dena Kurzweil and her husband, Stephen Graham, of Bensalem
Daughter, Robyn Kurzweil and her husband, Jeffrey Gerosky, Taylor

I was so sorry to hear from Sandy Donahue Zigray that Anne Frances had passed away. I had a lovely, warm conversation with her about a year ago-talking about all things Augustitus. Holding you all in the light.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Ann many years ago through Scranton Area Council of PTAs, while she was chairman of the Reflections Program. Ann was a great supporter of this program and all of the children who entered throughout out the years. It was a huge job and she did it for many years. When she decided to retire from Reflections, I took her place for about four years. I had big shoes to fill and a lot to learn. Ann was always there to help and assist with the many question I had. I am blessed to have known her. My deepest sympathy to the Kurzweil family.

Not a kinder, more compassionate person hath the Good Lord made than Ann Frances. The world was a better place due to her genuine and faithful influence on so many of us. I have vivid recollections of her with an apron on and a kitchen towel draped over her shoulder working so hard at church events! Ann Frances, you will be missed, but not forgotten. God Speed.
