Mr. Andrew J. Murman, 73, of Duryea, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late Andrew P. and Christine Kolmansberger Murman. He was a graduate of Duryea High School, Class of 1960, where he played the trumpet in the school band. He served in the United States National Guard. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Friedman Electric, Wilkes Barre for 33 years.

He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea.

He was a dedicated member of the Duryea Crime Watch. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He had a passion for listening and playing music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father in law, William Bernard.


He and his wife, the former Patricia Bernard, would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on September 24th.

Daughter, Carla Reck and her fiance, Alex DeVirgilis, of Raleigh, North Carolina

Special brother and sister in law, Robert Murman and his wife, Mary, of Springbrook
Brother, Richard Murman of Exeter Township
Brother, George Murman of New Jersey

Mother in law, Regina (Moleski) Bernard of Duryea
Dear Aunt, Eleanor Molewski of Florida
Uncle, Frank Murman and his wife, Faith, of Mountaintop
Nieces, nephews and cousins

The family would like to thank Rev. Andrew Sinnott, Dr. Guy Fasciana, Dr. David Greenwald and Erwine Hospice for the care and compassion that was given to Andrew throughout his illness.

Funeral will be held Saturday, June 6, 2015, at 10:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Holy Rosary Church, 125 Stephenson Street, Duryea with the Rev. Andrew Sinnott officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Medical Oncology Associates, 382 Pierce Street, Kingston, PA 18704.
