Mr. Andrew “Andy” Thomas Evanich, 47, of Woodlyn PA, passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2026.
Born on October 2, 1978, he was the son of Patricia (Petrolonis) Evanich and the late Andrew Evanich of Pittston. He was a 1997 graduate of Pittston Area Senior High School, a 2003 graduate of Temple School of Pharmacy, and a 2007 graduate of Widener University School of Law.

After graduating from pharmacy and law school, Andy built a distinguished career in pharmacy and healthcare leadership and was most recently employed as a Specialty Pharmacist of Quality Assurance, Compliance and Accreditation at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia.

To those who knew him best, Andy was much more than his professional accomplishments. He was one of the smartest people you could ever meet, blessed with a rare ability to excel in both analytical and creative pursuits. Whether he was navigating the complexities of healthcare and law, building computers, troubleshooting technology, or mastering a new challenge, Andy seemed to understand things in a way few others could.

Andy was also incredibly creative. Family and friends fondly remember hearing him play bass or guitar during jam sessions, sharing a talent that brought him great joy. He was also an avid gamer and technology enthusiast who often built his own computers, combining his love of gaming with his natural technical skill. He was also a devoted fan of Star Wars and He-Man, proudly displaying collectables and various figurines around his home office. He was someone who never lost sense of his wonder for the hobbies and interests he loved.

Andy also had a deep passion for music, movies, and travel. He frequently attended concerts with his wife, family, and friends. He never hesitated to provide recommendations for movies or television series or see a concert or show of an artist he previously enjoyed or a new one. Andy also found great joy in traveling to new places with his loving wife.

Andy was funny, kind, and loyal. He never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh, but he was also the person family and friends could count on whenever they needed him. He never hesitated to crack jokes but would also be there in an instant for those he loved. He was a devoted husband, brother, and son who loved wholeheartedly and deeply cherished the relationships he built throughout his life.

Above all else, Andy’s greatest love was his wife, his best friend, Lisa. The two celebrated their twentieth wedding anniversary on March 13th of this year. They were truly each other’s world, sharing a bond built on love, friendship, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Anyone who knew them could see the deep love they shared and the happiness they found simply being together.

Andy’s sudden passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him. His intelligence, humor, kindness, and unwavering love for family will be remembered always and missed beyond words.

Andy is preceded in death by his father, Andrew “Andy” Evanich, who passed away on July 30, 2026; his maternal grandparents, Albert and Stella (Sandalls) Petrolonis; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Irene (Palo) Evanich.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Lisa (Hewitt) Evanich of Woodlyn.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 12:00 pm from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 pm in Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea with the Rev. Alex Roche officiating. Andy will be laid to rest next to his dad in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Swoyersville. A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Eighteen years ago, Andy and Lisa became our neighbors, and from that day on, we lived side by side. Over those many years, I came to know Andy as a man with a kind heart and a quiet, easygoing nature. He wasn’t a person of many words, but I could always tell there was a thoughtful and observant mind behind that quiet demeanor. Andy took great pride in his home and property, and that was certainly to my benefit as a neighbor. Year after year, he religiously manicured his lawn and landscaping, keeping everything looking immaculate. I can still remember working outside while Andy was cutting his grass. More often than not, I had to wave or use hand gestures to get his attention because he always had his earbuds in! Our conversations were usually brief, but we shared something that didn’t require many words—mutual respect and a genuine appreciation for being good neighbors. Andy’s presence will certainly be missed in our neighborhood. Eighteen years of being neighbors creates memories and a connection that are not easily forgotten. My sincere condolences go out to Lisa and the entire Evanich family, as well as Andy’s many friends. May you find comfort in the memories you shared with him, and may his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew him. We will miss you Andy, and your Christmas decorations.

I am sorry about Andy. He hired me at CVS around 2013 and I worked with him for a year there. I have been working at Jefferson with him for the last 3 years. If Andy never hired me, who knows what career I’d have. I might have never learned anything about pharmacy or be where I am today. We always talked horror movies and made recommendations to each other. He will be missed.
