Mr. Allan J. Komar Sr., 73, of Duryea, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains Township.

Born in Duryea, he was the son of the late Joseph (Jessie) and Anna Chipko Komar and was a graduate of Pittston Area High School. He served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Tobyhanna Army Depot.

Allan was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea, the American Legion Post 0274, Gouldsboro and the V.F.W. Post 1227, Duryea. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his son, Allan Komar Jr.

Surviving are:
Daughter, Michelle Bidwell and her husband, Darrin, of Old Forge
Daughter, Melissa Workman and her husband, Shawn, of Punta Gorda, Florida
Five grandchildren
Two great grandchildren
Brother, David Komar of Duryea

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 10:00 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea,with the Rev. Michael Bryant officiating. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Duryea. A viewing will be held on Saturday morning from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the funeral home.
