Grandma

Mrs. Agnes Marie Golla, 92, of Dupont, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Celtic Hospice in Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Chopek Jakubco. She was a graduate of Duryea High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the area garment industry.

She was a faithful member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston.

Agnes was a loving mother, grandma and great grandma who was truly devoted to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She loved to crochet, play bingo, garden and watch the Philadelphia Phillies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Golla, who passed away on April 1, 1989, three brothers, Stephen, Michael and John Jakubco and two sisters, Mary Jakubco and Anna Hedgepeth.

Daughter, Ann Marie Sokolowski and her husband, Joseph of Pittston
Son, John Golla and his wife, Melynda, of Hampton, VA
Daughter, Pat Golla and her companion, David Pacovsky, both of Dupont

Granddaughter, Colleen Massenkeil and her husband, Christopher, of Pittston
Grandson, Joseph Sokolowski and his fiancee, Angela Elko, of Hanover Township
Granddaughter, Jessica Golla of Richmond, VA
Granddaughter, Jolene Sokolowski of Old Forge
Great grandson, Joey Sokolowski of Old Forge
David Pacovsky's son, David of Dupont

The family would like to thank the staff of Wesley Village, where she had resided for the past two years, Dr. Moran and Celtic Hospice for the care and compassion that was shown to Agnes.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at 9:30 am from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main Street, Duryea with Mass of the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 205 North Main Street, Pittston by Rev. Gary Mensinger and Rev. John Cigan. Interment will be in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Pittston. Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Parastas Service will be Wednesday at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, may be made to St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 205 North Main Street, Pittston, PA 18640.
